Unique Republican nominee draws national attention to NWI congressional race

The Republican nominee for Northwest Indiana’s U.S. House seat usually receives condolences after winning the primary election, instead of congratulations, because the person definitely will not be elected in November to represent the Region in Congress. But Crown Point’s Jennifer-Ruth Green, a black woman, definitely is not the usual GOP nominee, and she’s confident this will be the year Republicans end their nine decades of futility in the 1st Congressional District of Lake, Porter and northwest LaPorte counties.

Elise Stefanik endorses Indiana veteran vying to make history in Congress

An Indiana congressional race once considered solidly Democratic is getting national attention as a possible GOP pick-up opportunity in November — with a history-making candidate. Jennifer-Ruth Green, an Air Force veteran, pilot and backer of former President Trump’s “America First” policies, won the GOP primary election Tuesday to represent the state’s 1st Congressional District. If successful on Nov. 8, she’d be poised to become the only Republican Black woman in Congress.

Rokita endorses Air Force veteran in Republican U.S. House primary

Attorney General Todd Rokita has picked the Republican he wants to see challenge U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland, in the contest to represent Northwest Indiana in Congress.

The Munster native is endorsing Jennifer-Ruth Green, of Crown Point, in the seven-candidate Republican primary election set for May 3.
